Now that I have ordered my Gravel bike and my new Garmin device it is time to look into how to plan gravel routes. I did found a nice website called Gravelrides.cc which has about 94 routes, which they have shared via Komoot.
In a nutshell, Komoot is a route planning app and website that helps you piece together disparate roads, trails and everything in between to connect multiple points in the funnest possible way. Or the most efficient. Or some mix of the two, using surface type, elevation, and other factors to create a ride that other mapping systems would be hard pressed to do.
For my Garmin Edge Explorer their is an app which you can download on the device. This app allows you to download your created routes in Komoot onto your Garmin, this way you don’t have to export / import GPX files. This of course if very convenient because you can build your routes on your laptop on a big screen and use it on your Garmin immediately after downloading.
