Gravel Biking in Limburg: A Journey of Scenic Beauty

Limburg, the southernmost province of the Netherlands, is a haven for gravel bikers looking for challenging climbs, beautiful views, and delicious food. With its varied terrain, Limburg offers riders the opportunity to explore winding roads, gravel paths, and even mountain bike trails. In this post, we’ll take you on a gravel biking journey through Limburg, complete with an omelet and cola stop and a closed restaurant that wasn’t worth a visit.

Our journey begins in the picturesque village of Valkenburg, known for its Cauberg and Amstel Hold Race. We started our ride at the base of a steep climb, which served as a warm-up for the challenging terrain that lay ahead. As we made our way up the gravel path, we were treated to stunning vistas of the surrounding hills and valleys. The climb was tough, but the views made it all worth it.

As we crested the top of the climb, we were met with a meandering path that wound its way through the rolling countryside. The path was a mix of gravel, dirt, and asphalt, making for an interesting and varied ride. We passed through small villages and hamlets, each with its own unique character.

On one of the MTB track we had to tackle a gravel climb that was both steep and challenging. The climb was tough, but the reward was the stunning views that awaited us at the top. We stopped to catch our breath and take in the beauty of the landscape around us. The view was simply breathtaking, with rolling hills and green fields stretching as far as the eye could see.

At our turn around point, we came across a closed restaurant called Het Hijgend Hert, located in the Vijlnerbos forest. The restaurant was not closed but a long que of people in line, we decided not to join them. A stunning MTB track to us through the forest and downhill which made it worth the stop anyway. We took a few photos and continued on our journey.

Our final stretch took us through some of Limburg’s best mountain bike trails. The trails were challenging but the Rave did his job well, with plenty of rocks, roots, and steep inclines. We had to hike a bike on some sections, but the experience was exhilarating. The trails took us through dense forests and open fields, offering a perfect blend of terrain.

As we neared the end of our journey, we were tired but satisfied. Limburg had offered us a perfect blend of scenic beauty and culinary delights. From the challenging climbs and the stunning views to and the omelets and colas, our journey had been unforgettable.

In conclusion, if you’re a gravel biker looking for a challenging and rewarding ride, Limburg is the perfect destination. With its varied terrain, stunning vistas, and delicious food, Limburg offers an unforgettable biking experience. So, hop on your bike and explore the beauty of Limburg for yourself!
