This day was all about climbing and not just normal climbing but a full 6 km climb on gravel. The total route was about 37 km whereof 14,5 km was unpaved roads. So the first kilometers were all about recovery on tarmac, but there was a bit of climbing, 14% on there too. After a nice stop at a local bakery for an Apfel Strudel (what else) it was time to put on my climbing legs. Smooth roads brought me at the Valle di Casies and from there is was all the way up. At an average of 6% but with peaks over 20% this climb was feeling like an Alpe d’Huez or Mont Ventoux but then on gravel. My Jaroon was squeaking and growling but it brought me save and sounds at the top. After enjoying the beautiful view it was time to go down, with an excepted off road up and downhill as a little present. Through the cow fields it brought me back on the tarmac where the actual downhill to Toblach started. Despite the little rain on that last down hill this day was amazing again.
What do you think I will do tomorrow? Read it here: Day 4.
